Chicago Plastic Surgeons
If you're considering having some form of Chicago plastic surgery performed, then you've probably already done some research about the different types of procedures available. There are many Chicago plastic surgeons who are experts in their field, and it's just as important for you to find a doctor who is board certified, has plenty of experience and a lot of satisfied patients who can attest to his or her results.
Top Five Procedures
Chances are if you are planning on having plastic surgery, it will be one of the top five procedures ranked by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. Those include liposuction, nose reshaping, breast augmentation, eyelid surgery and tummy tucks. Do some research one these procedures if you haven't already and if possible, talk to some people who have had them done. A good recommendation from a happy patient is probably the best way to find a good Chicago plastic surgeon. You can get a reasonable idea of what the surgeon's results are and find out almost first hand how the patient's experience was.
Few Things To Check First
Even if you have a glowing report from a former patient, go ahead and ask your plastic surgeon questions. You should be able to ask him or her what school of medicine they graduated from, what hospital they trained at and what hospital in which they currently have privileges to perform surgery. It's also important to check out the hospital and make sure they have a good track record as well.
Ask if he or she has certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Most doctors will have their board certification certificate and other accreditations easily visible on the wall of their office, but you can always ask specifically and also can verify it with the organizations via phone or on the Internet.
Your plastic surgeon should be willing to tell you how long he or she has been practicing and performing these types of procedures. You can ask roughly how many plastic surgeries they have done and what are the potential risks for your specific procedure and what measures will be taken if those occur. Find how long your operation or treatment will take, how many days your recovery should take and if you will have to limit physical activity or take days off work.
Talk to your Chicago plastic surgeon about whether or not your procedure will have to be repeated or how many return check ups you will have to schedule. Find out if any further treatments or visits are billed in addition to the procedure fee or if they are included.
Elective plastic surgery most likely won't be covered by your health insurance, setting up a payment plan may be something else you want to discuss.
